A Multy-Year Study Reveals the Importance of Residual Herbicides on Weed Control in Glyphosate-Resistant Soybean Planta Daninha
NUNES,A.L.; LORENSET,J.; GUBIANI,J.E.; SANTOS,F.M..
ABSTRACT: A 3-year field study was conducted to assess the potential for using pre-emergent (PRE) herbicides tank mixed with glyphosate as a means of controlling weed species in soybean. In 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/14 growing sessions soybean cultivar Brasmax Apollo RR was planted under residues of rye. The herbicide treatments glyphosate (gly) (1,296 g a.i. ha-1), gly + S-metolachlor (1,296 + 1,920), gly + imazaquin (1,296 +161), gly + pendimethalin (1,296 + 1,000), gly + metribuzin (1,296 + 480), gly + 2.4-D amine (1,296 + 1,209) was applied in pre-emergence (PRE) over rye crop residues two days before soybean sowing. In addition, full season weed-free and weedy control plots were included. Gly + S-metolachlor and gly + pendimethalin reduced the...

Enzymatic Properties and Ryegrass Resistance Mechanism to Iodosulfuron-Methyl-Sodium Herbicide Planta Daninha
MARIANI,F.; SENSEMAM,S.A.; VARGAS,L.; AGOSTINETO,D.; ÁVILA,L.A.; SANTOS,F.M..
ABSTRACT: Ryegrass(Lolium multiflorum)is one of the most worrisome species with regard to herbicide resistance. This study aimed at characterizing the acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme activity of resistant biotypes (NC and AR) and susceptible biotypes to iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium (iodosulfuron). Different concentrations of pyruvate (1, 10, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 mM), of iodosulfuron (0 to 100 µM for the resistant biotypes and 0 to 0.5 µM for the susceptible biotype) and concentrations of valine, leucine and isoleucine (0, 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, 1, 10 and 100 mM) were used for the in vitro characterization. According to the results, the Michaelis constant (Km) values (pyruvate) for the assessed biotypes were similar. With iodosulfuron, resistant biotypes...

Photosynthetic Performance of Glyphosate Resistant and Glyphosate Susceptible Hairy Fleabane under Light Intensity Planta Daninha
SILVA,D.R.O.; VARGAS,L.; AGOSTINETTO,D.; SANTOS,F.M..
ABSTRACT: Herbicide resistance can confer lower competitive abilities; however scarse information is available about the photosynthetic performance between glyphosate-resistant and -susceptible hairy fleabane biotypes coming from areas with similar weed management history. Thus, the goal was to evaluate the photosynthetic performance under different light intensities between glyphosate-resistant and -susceptible hairy fleabane biotypes, from RR soybean fields with a similar weed management history. The tested factors were glyphosate resistant and susceptible biotypes and 12 levels of photosynthetic photon flux density. Plants were cultivated in plastic cups, and at the stage of 10-12 leaves they were subjected to treatments with artificial lighting...
